I Bought an Airplane

Words about airplane ownership and flying.

It Is Here!

It’s home!  I took a photo of it in my new leased city parking spot along the taxiway right next to the runway at the Bend airport (KBDN).  I put my name on the list to get a hangar, but I understand that the list is very long, and maybe even not ever get a hangar.  Oh well, lots of people keep their planes outside!  So I’ll just make the best of it.  Luckily for me the previous owner kept it in a hangar in Ashland, so the paint is in very good shape and still shiny.  My first order of business is to buy a good cockpit cover to try my best to keep the most critical parts out of the weather.  The previous owner had a cover in the baggage compartment.  It is really worn out, but for now it’ll have to do.

I was very fortunate to not have to drive down to Ashland to pick up the airplane.  Instead, an instructor from Ashland had business here and heard that the plane was going to Bend.  So he offered to fly it down if I would simply pay for the fuel.  Of course I took him up on the offer and bought him lunch as well.

So there it sits!  I just stood and stared at it for a while.  I didn’t fly it that same day, I don’t know why. I was still spinning from the thought that I’m now an owner of an airplane!
