Packing your car for a trip is fairly straightforward. You shove in as much as you can without crowding passengers or blocking your view. But with a plane, it’s much more complicated. The weight has to be spread out across the seats and baggage compartment so that it doesn’t become too front heavy or too back heavy. The catch to all of it is that everything must be considered and weighed – even the weight of the gas in the tanks. And then of course there is a total weight limit that the plane can handle. Each item in my photo has to be weighed and carefully assigned to a proper position in the plane. There is room in the baggage compartment, the rear seats can carry some cargo – and since I’m flying by myself, the front passenger seat can also carry some cargo. Thankfully everything I want to carry fits the weight capacity of the plane, but now I have to worry about space. I load the plane tomorrow night so I’ll see how good my Tetris skills are in getting everything in it’s place.
I’m so looking forward to setting up my tent beside my plane. But the flying to the destination is also part of the fun.
