I Bought an Airplane

Words about airplane ownership and flying.

Oshkosh 2023

I’m going!  I’ll be flying the Cherokee across 5 or 6 states and heading to Wisconsin to attend the biggest airshow in the world.  It’s sort of a “bucket listy” kind of thing to do as a pilot. I am flying alongside a friend who has a Beechcraft Sierra and has been to Oshkosh before. Since I’ve never been before, I am relying on the advice of the aviation community here in Bend Oregon. There are lots of pilots who are generous with their time and advice. Getting everyone’s tips has been useful and will make the journey more enjoyable.  One nice gift I received from Kim Muinch of the Friends of Bend Airport, was a nice set of tie down spikes.  These are definitely needed as some years the winds get so high that planes have been pushed around a bit and you don’t want your plane touching someone else’s plane – much less having your plane ON someone else’s plane.

I’ll be posting something each day as a little journal of the trip.
